The landscape of electric vehicles and golf carts is rapidly changing, and with the rise in popularity of eco-friendly transportation options, regulations are evolving to ensure the safety and compliance of users. As of October 1st, 2023, Florida has implemented new golf cart laws that directly impact younger drivers.
Details of the New Golf Cart Law
The new legislation, HB 949, introduces a significant change to the operation of golf carts by minors in Florida:
Licensing Requirements: The law now mandates that anyone under the age of 18 must possess a learner’s permit or a driver’s license to operate a golf cart on a public road in Florida.
Previous Regulations: Prior to this change, individuals had to be at least 14 years old to operate golf carts on public roads designated for golf-cart use. Importantly, there was no requirement for these operators to have a driver’s license.

Moke America EV has made a comeback, and this time, it’s electric! This iconic and versatile vehicle, initially designed for the British military in the 1960s, has been reimagined for the 21st century. With its eco-friendly design and impressive features, the Moke America is perfect for beach lovers, urban explorers, and anyone who wants to make a statement on the road. This post will examine the unique features and benefits that make Moke America stand out.
Moke America is committed to reducing its carbon footprint, and that commitment shines through in its all-electric design. The Moke is powered by a 110V/220V charger, which can be plugged into any standard outlet. With a top speed of 25 mph and a range of up to 40 miles on a single charge, this eco-friendly vehicle is perfect for short trips, errands, and leisurely drives along the coastline.
If the Moke looks familiar, it has a long history. It was first developed as a variant of the original Austin Mini, rebodied for use by the military (it was designed to be small and light enough to be dropped out of planes). Its sedanlike ground clearance and lack of off-road ability cut short its military career. However, it found a second calling as a sunny-weather runabout for the yachting set, beachgoers, and swells everywhere living la dolce vita. That’s the kind of appeal that endures, and the original Moke’s life span extended from 1964 into the 1990s, with the vehicle being produced in half a dozen different countries.
At least in the United States, the Moke has been reborn as a battery-powered low-speed vehicle (LSV). (Moke America sells it in overseas markets with a 1.0-liter inline-four.) That LSV classification means it’s subject to different rules in different states, but New York
With a 60 Years of Bond edition, Moke America seeks to remind us of the Jeep-like EV’s 007 connection.
The Moke is probably not the first car that comes to mind when considering James Bond’s famous rides. There’s the well-known A-brand, of course, but the prolific fictional spy has probably run through more vehicles than he has Bond girls. And on that long list, the Moke appears four times in You Only Live Twice, Live and Let Die, The Spy Who Loved Me, and Moonraker.
To drive home that connection, Moke America is rolling out a 60 Years of Bond special edition of its eMoke, a battery-powered low-speed vehicle (LSV). The 60 Years of Bond is the second 007-themed Moke, following the San Monique Edition. While that one—named after the fictional island setting of Live and Let Die—has a tropical theme with its striped surrey top, the 60 Years version is more like
The idea that history repeats itself usually has negative connotations, but not when it comes to the automotive arena. Case in point is the contemporary version of the classic Moke, first built in the early 1960s by the British Motor Corporation. Initially conceived as a military transport, the quirky car never served in the armed forces but rather found an army of A-list devotees, including Brigitte Bardot and Frank Sinatra, who used the low-speed vehicle to complement their lavish and laid-back lifestyle.
Flash-forward more than five decades and the long-retired ride has been reborn due to Todd Rome—the transportation titan who founded Blue Star jets—and his company Moke America. We spoke with Rome about his new Moke and why it’s perfect for the latest generation of both the jet set and the general public.
What was your path to forming Moke America?
I invented a company 20 years ago to make flying private more affordable, and it was a huge success. Although I eventually sold the company to a competitor, I’m still involved to this day. So transportation was my background and I’ve been a car lover my entire life. I’ve had really wild and unique [...]
If you’re looking for a nostalgic and sustainable car, look no further than the Moke America. This tiny vehicle has been around since the 1960s, and its popularity has surged in recent years as more people seek eco-friendly transportation options.
What is a Moke?
The Moke is a small, open-top car that was first produced in the United Kingdom in the 1960s. It was originally designed as a military vehicle, but its compact size and versatility also made it popular with civilians. The Moke has a distinctive look, with its exposed wheels, boxy shape, and minimalistic design. It was also one of the first cars to have four-wheel drive, which made it ideal for off-road use.
In recent years, the Moke has returned in the United States, thanks to Moke America. This company has taken the classic Moke design and updated it for modern times. The new Moke America is electric, with a range of up to 40 miles on a single charge. It’s also more significant than the original Moke, with room for four passengers.
One of the most appealing aspects of the Moke America is its sustainability. The car is 100% electric, which means it produces zero emissions. It’s also made with eco-friendly materials, such as recycled plastic, and ha [...]
